Hammer Throw Training at Hammerman Field in Aurora IL

We teach young throwers how to throw the hammer. From beginners to advanced throwers, our coach will help young athletes improve their throwing abilities.

Training Qualifications

We accept beginner boys and girls ages 13 through 19. No prior hammer throwing experience is necessary.

We accept boys and girls 13+ who are looking to improve their technique.

All training program participants are eligible to compete in our throws meets at Hammerman Field.

Hammer Throw training program details

Our coach will teach you the basic skills you will require to advance in the exciting sport of hammer throwing. We keep class sizes small to ensure you get focused attention from our coach.

The program runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays except on days when we have meets. (Click here to see the meet schedule.) Hammerman USA will provide hammers for your training sessions. You will need to bring your own throwing gloves and shoes. Email Coach Harris for more information on the type of equipment you will need. All participants in our training programs are entitled to compete in our Summer throws meets.

MEET THE COACH

Coach Andy

Head Throws Coach Andy Harris

Coach Harris is a former Hammer Thrower from Fresno State. While in college, Andy competed in the Shot Put, Discus and Hammer Throw. He was a three-time All American in Hammer Throw and an elite Olympic weight lifter. After graduating, Andy became a high school English teacher, specializing in English as a second language.

Coach Harris has been a successful Throws coach at several area high schools, coaching Shot, Discus and Hammer. His throwers have won conference and sectional titles and have qualified for the state meet. Coach Harris is a technically proficient teacher who knows how to get the most out of his students. Andy has been the Head Throws Coach at Hammerman USA since 2022.
