Sunny skies and mild temperatures made for a perfect throwing day at Hammerman Field. This was out biggest meet of the season and there were some great competitions.
In the Men’s High School Hammer Throw, Joel Degracia took the title with a personal best of 170′ 7″. Kyle Clabough took second at 162′ 3″ – a PR. Diego Campos took third at 157′ 11″ – another PR. Justin Benzinger threw a PR of 169′ 3″ in the College division.
The Men’s High School Discus was also ultra-competitive as it had three Illinois state meet qualifiers in the final flite. Tony Zajac took the crown with a heave of 158′ 9″ to edge out Hammerman USA’s Dan Coxworth who threw 155′ 3″.

OLYMPIC SIGHTINGS:
Unbeknownst to meet organizers, Paralympic athlete and world record holder, Jessica Heims, competed on Saturday. Jessica recorded a massive throw of 118′ in the Women’s Discus as a tune up for the Tokyo Olympics. Jessica, who has a prosthetic right leg, showed off the silky smooth form that has helped her set world Paralympic records in the Women’s Discus. Jessica, we will be rooting for you in Tokyo!
