THROWERS LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET HELD AUGUST 8TH at HAMMERMAN FIELD

2020’s Throwers League series of meets concluded on August 8th at Hammerman Field in Aurora, IL.

This summer was like no other, as a huge influx of throwers participated from around the country. The final meet saw over 90 athletes, ages 9-27, compete in the Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and Hammer Throw. The Championship meet brought some great competitions and personal bests.

  • Val Pallett set a personal best in the High School Girls Discus with a throw of 142’6”. This was a Hammerman Field record and Val became the Throwers League champ in the Discus for 2020.
  • Julian Juszczyk tossed the Javelin 185’6” for a personal best and a new Hammerman Field record for Boys High School Javelin. Not a bad throw for a 16-year-old!
  • Kyle Clabough continued his unbeaten streak in the High School Boys Shot Put with a personal best heave of 58’3¾”. He became the Throwers League champ and set a new field record. Kyle had just returned from the AAU junior nationals where he won the Shot Put title for 15-16 year-old boys. A great season for Kyle!

Many more personal bests were set on a perfect summer day for throwing.

Thanks to all the teams that brought their throwers to our meets this summer. Thanks to all the athletes who braved the virus and came out and competed. Hopefully, next summer will see a return to more normal competition and social interaction. We look forward to seeing all of you then. Thanks for making Hammerman Field the “Throwing Mecca” of the Midwest!
